During the pandemic we all found ourselves spending a lot more time outdoors, enjoying our backyards, parks and gardens. Now those shades of greens are coming into our homes. Color is a very powerful tool in creating a welcoming and relaxing vibe! The 2022 color trends are nature-inspired greens, earthtone and warm gray-greens and could be a beautiful paint color for any design style!
Let’s explore the 2022 color picks of the year from each paint company.
Benjamin Moore‘s pick for the 2022 color of the year is a soft, silvery green called October Mist. Benjamin Moore discribes the color as a botanical shade of green that mimics the pale green of a flower stem. This is a color that I have used in my own home in the past and I agree depending on the nature light at times it can look green or a soft green-gray.
Sherwin Williams picked Evergreen Fog as their 2022 color of the year. This is a mid-tone gray-green. It signifies a shift away from cool neutral and jewel tones that have previously dominated paint color trend of the past.
Gliden selected what they call a “zingy” shade of green named Guacamole. But this avocado-green color delivers both a relaxing and refreshing feel to a room.
Behr‘s 2022 color of the year is a cool refreshing shade called Breezway. This is a silvery blue-green color and reminds me of sea glass that would be found along the beach.
PPG chose a soft, organic shade of green called Olive Sprig as their 2022 color of the year. Because it’s a gray-green color it’s reminiscent of velvety sage leaves or an aloe vera plant.
Are you as exited as I am to start adding touches of green tones into your home?
Green is a calm color pulled from nature, because it’s subtle enough it can act as a neutral while still having presence in a space. Green can also be very sophisticated when combining it with bright whites and gold finishes and pairing it with darker accents can create a cozy space. It’s also an easy color choice to pair with warm or cool colors.
Here is an examples of how to pair complementary colors.
The shades of green used on the leaves, paired a beautiful background tone of pink on this wallpaper enhances the transitional look of this room.

This dining room photo is a perfect example of how you can easily add touches of green to a room. Adding the green velvet fabric onto the upholstered chairs, glass table lamps, table accessories and touches of green in the artwork gives this room the pop of color without going out of your comfort zone!
