Each paint company referrs to their finishes different, but here is a common list:
- Flat-no sheen, NOT washable
- Matte-washable flat
- Eggshell-slight angular sheen, light washablility
- Satin-medium sheen, washable
- Semi gloss-shiny sheen, scrubblable
- High gloss-high sheen, scrubblable

Kitchen: this is an area that gets a lot of use and it tends to be cleaned more often due to cooking. So you would want to use a paint that is durabile and washability for daily cleaning

Bathroom: Moisture & condensation can develope on surfaces. Needs to be cleaned often. This is also an area that you would want to be able to clean & the paint handle the daily moisture.

Eggshell-just enough sheen without being too shiny, washable
Satin-great option for furniture, trim and doors
Semi gloss-common use trim and doors, but if you have a vibrant color it will work very well
High gloss– used for doors & trim , but being used more often on walls for a modern look,
