With most of my time spent in my home I have had plenty of time to think about what needs to be changed to suit our life style. We have been living in our new home for a little over a year and I have realized what things are not working and what changes I need to make.
I miss having an entry that allows us to hang our coats up and remove our shoe. With staying home the last few weeks I realize I must find a way to rectify this! So it’s time to make some simple tweaks by using furniture and accessories I already have.
I love my quiet corner I created as you walk into my home and didn’t want to change it but, I knew I needed to make it more fuctional. So I moved a bench from another room and placed it under the window. Used part of it for an end table by stacking books and placing a lamp so I can still sit and read. Took an antique crate and placed it under it for shoes and then added a throw & metal basket. It’s amazing what simply moving furniture can do.
We still have a lot to do when it come to decorating but now is not the time to buy. So I am trying to tackle each room by using what I have and continue to compile a list of what I still need.
Never be afraid to paint something, or move your furniture around, to flip a room or use a space as it’s not traditionally intended. Make your home work for you! I love going into a client’s home and helping them make their home more functional. Most of the time I open up their eyes to what gems they already own. By moving things around you can save you money to purchase what you really need.
I hope you are all healthy and well. Hang in there as best you can. I will continue to share but, feel free to reach out to me for advice. During this time of staying home I will be happy to share my ideas with you to help you love the space you live in!
