During this time of spending our days at homes I think you would agree that it’s important to make it as comfortable and cozy as possible. I also think you may feel it is not the time to think about decor but, if you are like me I want to enjoy the esthetics more than ever!
This is the perfect time to take a look around and make a list of what you need in each room, what can be moved or rearranged and how about warming up a space with window treatments? Now I know custom window coverings can be expensive but, ready made drapes or shades can work with the right guidance.
Let’s start with the proper way to hang drapes. Install the rod a minimum 4″ above the window frame and 12″ wider. This give you the flexability to fine a pair or panels that are the correct height.

I love the look of roman shades for privacy and you can easily pair them with drapes.

To take into the next level for a “custom look” layering is the way to go. Install a shade for privacy & drapes hung on a decorative rod to adds texture or pattern

Roman shades can be hung two ways. If you have enough depth and are able to purchase a shade the right width mount the shade inside the window. But not every window has the depth to fit a shade, so mounting the shade onto the frame is very common. If you are dressing a bedroom window and are looking to keep the sun out in the morning, outside mounting is a better option!
It looks like the “stay home” thing is going to be our new normal for the forseeable future. So I hope this gives you a break from our current reality.
May your family & friends stay safe & healthy.
